Children's books link the World - Hans Christian Andersen Award 2020 & IBBY Honour List 2020

The International Library of Children's Literature will hold an exhibition "Children's books link the World - Hans Christian Andersen Award 2020 & IBBY Honour List 2020."

There are about 200 books on display. For example, the books by the winners of the Hans Christian Andersen Award 2020, the books on the IBBY Honour List, and the Japanese translation of these titles which you can pick up and enjoy reading in this exhibition.

IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People), a non-profit organization which represents an international network of people from all over the world who are committed to bringing books and children together, was founded in 1953.

The Hans Christian Andersen Award is presented biennially to a living author and illustrator, whose complete works have made a lasting contribution to children's books. In 2020, the winner of the author award was Jacqueline Woodson (USA) while the illustrator award went to Albertine (Switzerland).

The IBBY Honour List is a booklist made biennially by the national sections of IBBY from books recently published in each country. This list consists of three categories: writing, illustration and translation, which represent their national children's books. In 2020, 179 works in 48 different languages were selected from 60 countries. From Japan, Kimi no sonzai o ishiki suru (Sensing your presence) by NASHIYA Arie was selected for writing, Yoru no oto (Night sounds) by TAMURA Shigeru was selected for illustration and Aoi tsuki no ishi (Blue moonstone. Orig. Dutch: De blauwe maansteen by Tonke Dragt) by NISHIMURA Yumi for translation.
